Homeschooling Field Trip 101

We were so excited that Disney World has realized that homeschoolers don't do boring field trips!  This morning at Disney's American Idol Theater, we were able to get together with about 200+ of our new homeschooling friends and learn all about how Disney makes the magic on stage happen.  Disney sponsors Homeschool Days twice a year.  It allows homeschoolers to get some deals on park tickets as well as take classes to learn all about these amazing parks and Disney.

We met homeschoolers from all over the country!

After the fun with all those crazy homeschoolers - we decided to spend the rest of the day exploring the world of...

But before we could go in we had to become Wilderness Scouts...  This was a fun program which had us running around the park learning from a variety of guides and earning merit badges.  Many of the guides are from Asia or Africa - so now were have some new friends from Indonesia, India, Zimbabwe and New Jersey!  Pretty amazing...

For you fans of the Disney Movie Up - you know the secret hand shake!

The Tree of Life is so amazing!

Frankie finally made it to Mount Everest!  He seems excited!

And this shot just seems weird!

We had to go to on Safari in Africa.

We were able to see so many animals and the surroundings truly made us feel like we were on the savannah in Africa.

Good thing I taught my EXALT class how to avoid a hungry hippo - or I might have been in trouble!

I spy with my little I something hiding in the trees - do you see it??

Love the mom and baby sharing some leaves!

This elephant was moving a log with his trunk - Disney is obviously hurting for help!

This shot is for our favorite Zebra fan - you know who you are!

This is a Black Rhino - there is only 5000 left in the world.

Look out Texas Longhorns - you got nothing on these Ankole Longhorns.  Interesting fact - the horns are hollow!

Look at these flamingos just hanging out on an island which was in the shape of Micky Mouse.

Caught some Lions on 'Pride Rock' - that is a Lion King reference for you Disney novices.
The lioness seems to be telling the lion something - but he is loosing interest.... yawn

Yawning Bigger.....

He is in trouble now!

How about a few of these ant hills in your yard!

You can't leave Africa without seeing a warthog!  There you go -
Hakuna Matata

We weren't done yet.  We had to stop to see some bats - they gave me the creeps!
The boys loved them.

The tigers on the other had were so regal and majestic - we were all captivated.

Though when I turned my back someone tried to sneak out.... Emma!
Don't get any ideas girlfriend this will not work at home!

One of my favorite shots was all these Hindu prayer flags blowing in the breeze.

The day was coming to an end - we did some fun rides, saw amazing animals, met terrific people and explored this amazing world a little closer.  Big thanks to Disney for Homeschool Days and Animal Kingdom for showing us that this world is full of so many amazing things!
