This was the last day before we returned to Copenhagen. We decided to visit an open air museum called Funen Village in Odense. The Funen Village represents a rural town as it might have appeared in Hans Christian Andersen's time (yes we like to stay with a theme). The Funen Village had about 30 buildings dating from the 17th to the 19th century. These buildings were all moved to the museum sight from various places around the Funen region.
I have to say walking through history is so much fun.
We started out strong.
But then the troops got hungry!
Zac served up some grub at the Inn.
Then it was on to Stilt Time...

Zac picked it up right away!
But I want to make sure everyone knows that -
we didn't neglect our schooling while we were in Europe!
In fact we took an some new students...
This is Emma's favorite letter -
Tommy didn't quite get the assignment - but who cares!
And Betsy wanted to make sure we all know that she is an
'Amulancan' Such a patriot!
'I got to go potty!'
We did a little bowling... I wonder if they leagues back then??
A visit to debtors prison...
There was even a picturesque windmill.
Can you guess the object all the kids pointed out to me in this room??
'Indoor pluming- it's gonna be big!' (a quote from which Disney movie?)
The gardens were so beautiful.
A picture for my brother Jon:)
This little cottage came alive with a great number from the Sound of Music! I am not sure the German tourists behind us found it that delightful..
We loved walking through history. To our surprise Funen Village has a great amphitheater. We saw all kinds of equipment being set up -
But who was playing tonight...
No we didn't stay for the concert - are average age didn't allow us admission!
It was wonderful to explore Denmark - but tomorrow it is back to Copenhagen and then HOME!
