Going on a Bear Hunt

We arrived in Kodiak at about 9 am.  The Best Western was nice enough to let us check in early, so we could take a nap.  Even those of us who "never" take naps fell asleep.

What a beautiful place.  And if you don't recognize that light - it is the sun!

After a restful nap - we put back a few cream sodas before heading out into the great outdoors.

Next came a ride on a seaplane to Foster Lake.  Which is about 50 mins across the island.

The pilot looks a little familiar?

First order of business at Foster Lake - get in the water to try and
catch the salmon that were jumping out of the water.

After a half hour hike - we saw our first bear!

Then we saw that we weren't watching the bear alone.  Her cub sat on the shore watching mom.

Then the little cub got a talking to by mom.  Even bear cubs get in trouble!

We then were joined by an older female bear - who was hungry!

After she ate she had to take a quick rest (I might actually be a bear).

Now we can actually say we did go on a bear hunt and found a few big ones!
