We took a 3 hour flight to Barrow, Alaska.
We did have to stop in Coldfoot to refuel. If any of you watch the reality show Ice Road Truckers you will recognize this place. The Ice Road goes through this town. There is also the famous Coldfoot Truck Stop there.

After refueling and a bathroom break it was on to
Barrow
Why you ask? Well - Barrow is the most northern town in North America (9th in the world). And to get to it we had to cross into the Arctic Circle. It is town of about 4,000 that is steeped in history, culture, work and play. For such a remote place there is a warmest to the people that I did not expect.

Yes that is the Arctic Ocean behind us!

So we had to go play in it! We also made Grandma touch the Arctic Ocean!
WELCOME TO BARROW
The decorating motif for the town is early whale bone.

Now we know how Jonah felt!
Please indulge my artistic moment...
Now just in case you get lost - Barrow offers you a very informative street sign.
In this cold and baron place - there is time to play!

Yes this is the High School football field next to the Arctic Ocean!
While we were getting ready to leave, I was taken by these little native girls playing. The 40 degrees and drizzle didn't phase them - they just wanted to have fun!

And we did as well -
We didn't want to leave too late because Barrow was expecting a storm to hit in a few hours. Possible snow! So - off we were again. After the 3 hour plane ride to Fairbanks, we ate and then had some more fun...
Big shock it involved WATER again...
