Last But Not Least

We decided to spend our last day in Alaska getting some culture!  We went to the University of Alaska Fairbanks Museum.  A really fantastic museum full of the culture, wildlife and art of Alaska.  We really enjoyed our time there, and really felt that this museum is a wonderful tribute to the Alaskans from the past and present.

It is such an unexpectedly modern building, but some how fits.

We had to start with a pose in front of Denali
The museum had a wonderful exhibit called Denali Legacy 100 years on the mountain.

Posing in front of Otto
Our favorite 8 foot brown bear!

Betsy and Zac had to do some of what Betsy called "schoolwork" at this museum.  The museum had worksheets that they had to fill out based on each of the exhibit.   They had a great time running around the exhibits and finding all the answers to the questions.

Lift with your legs!  3500 lbs of copper - is just a little light lifting for us!

Totem Polls were one of Zac's favorite thing from native Alaskan culture
Grandma called this Zac's thrown.
Every boy does need a good antler throne!

We couldn't resist one of our favorite animals -
the sea otter!
Then we went to enjoy some of the wonderful art.

Betsy and I loved this sculpture!

Guess who loved this painting???
If you guessed Betsy you have been paying attention to the blog

No one could resist this outhouse!

We even found art outside!

I love that Zac and Betsy were able to find art, a little fun and beauty everywhere!

I even found some myself!

Big Thanks to Mom/Grandma for an amazing trip and memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives!  Also - thanks to Kathy Wood of Wood Travel and Explore Alaska Tours.
We hope you have enjoyed sharing this trip with us.
