Today started leisurely - the boys made us breakfast - smoking up the kitchen with bacon grease. At that moment, the owner, Bergi, walked by the window and got a little concerned. After reassuring her that we were not burning the chalet down, she offered to give us a tour of her farm. Maybe in an attempt to keep us out of the kitchen.
A beautiful frog pond sits in the front yard of the farm. On a really hot day the owners have been know to take a dip!
On our animal tour - Frank made a friend and wants to 'keep her'...
Then came our introduction to Rosie and her 9 piglets. How does she keep a smile on her face and her girlish figure.
But our biggest fans were the goats - only because we had food.
How can you resist that face - more apple for you!
But the funniest were Lola and Laddy - they wanted food but were too nervous to jump off the wood pile.
But we can't forget the hardest working animals on the farm... These two donkeys work 1 day a year - Palm Sunday. One of them is chosen to ride the priest to the church on that Sunday. So, I guess that means the other donkey gets the year off.
We went into Salzburg for dinner and a show. We ate great fried chicken at a local out of the way restaurant called Steirische Weinstuben.
We had some time before our show so we stopped at the Euro Store. Which Zac pointed out is the 'Dollar Store' to us Americans!
Went across the river on a special foot bridge.
Which is called the Love Lock Bridge. You can probably figure out why with the next few photos...
Yes- you can 'Lock Your Love' on this bridge or do as the couple below and add a criminal aspect to it. Your choice...
We stumbled upon a local artisans fair. Where Frank bought Emma and I beautiful necklaces from a very talented German woman - who also giggled at his jokes!
The boys liked the wind spinners. This one is made of glass!
The only problem that arose was apparently the wind spinners turned Zac into a 'demon' with and umbrella hand. Scary!
It was finally time for the show. We went to see The Magic Flute done by a wonderful marionette theater. What a treat Mozart in Salzburg with puppets!
Look at their puppet theater -
How come my puppet theater never had a chandelier??
This is a replica of the Queen of the Night marionette. Pretty amazing! The show was wonderful.
On the way back to the car - look at the sight we saw... Wow!

I know just the place for Frank to keep his new friend! The garage!! I would come over every morning to milk her for you. I love the theater. The chandelier is amazing. My puppet theaters were just some old ripped and stained sheet in a doorwar or over a couple of chairs. I am convinced after seeing this theater that atmosphere is everything. I love the idea of locking your love on the bridge. What a romatic gesture. I can assume of course that you and Frank placed your locks on the bridge, right?
ReplyDeleteOur love lock is on the bridge at the DC temple! It should be ther for about eternity... What I want to know is - when the couple breaks up who has to come remove lock? I guess it is who ever has bolt cutters!
