There was one thing Emma wanted to see on our trip - Castles. So, we drove to one of the most famous castle in Germany - Neuschanstein.
It seems that on our way - we come across the interesting, beautiful and funny...
Made a pictures stop, and he pulled up next to us...
Maybe he wanted to race!
Just love their homes! The woodwork on this one was fantastic.
This is a play place at a McDonald's in Germany.. or maybe we took a wrong turn, and we are in England!
A small church just below the castle.
We got our tickets for the tours, and then it was feeding time. More bratwurst for the boys and roast hähnchen (chicken) for the girls. With an order of pommes frites - of course.
We took horse drawn carriage ride to the castle. Not exactly a Cinderella coach, but it was still fun.
Proof that they were there...
We couldn't take pictures inside the castle, but the outside made up for that...
While we were on the tour inside - the storm rolled in with a bang. There was thunder, lightning and downpours. We had our rain stuff and were able to make our way to the bus.
This would have been a great shot if the lovely scaffolding wasn't there. Travel tip - wait to come to Neushwenstein - renovations go to 2013...
We then toured King Ludwig's childhood home - Hohenschwangau
Look a gargling swan...
Look how beautiful even in bad weather.
We did meet a few 'ugly ducklings' along the way...
A little something for Opa and Memere.
We ended our day at a local Guest Haus having a real German meal. Yummy!
We had to stop when on the menu it had a section called Schnitzel Parade! Who could resist that - not us! Emma tried and love the turkey schnitzel, Zac and Max tried and loved the Spaetzle. What a great meal and really friendly service. The picture below is of Max's meal - he had to have a picture of it!
