The Golden Circle

Some say if you don't see a few things on the Golden Circle you can't claim that you have been to Iceland.  So, because we don't want anyone to doubt if we have been to Iceland - we spent our day visiting a few sights on The Golden Circle... (please don't ask why they call it that - we saw no gold and who ever said it was in a circle needs to go back to kindergarden)

We started at Thingvellir (it is spelled differently in Icelandic).  It is the sight of the Iceland's first Parliament.  It was a Viking Parliament in 930.  That must have been some party.. Interestingly, women did have a right to vote in that 930 parliament.

We also were able to see the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. You will here more about that from Zac...

Next we were on to Geysir.
We waited for a few minutes and look what happened...

 Then they turn Geysir off...

Frank and the kids climbed a hill to get a birds-eye view of geysir.

And they met some nice ladies from Boston who took their picture.

On the way to our next stop - yes that is a glacier you see behind those hills - how cool!

From there we were onto Gullfoss - this was my personal favorite stop of the day.  No words to how beautiful these falls are...just enjoy the pictures!

We did some posing...

Some sun worshipping...

and then Emma drove us out of there...

What a day...
